Concrete Batching Plant Maintenance: A Practical Checklist

A well-maintained concrete batching plant will run for decades. Here’s a practical maintenance checklist to keep your equipment in top shape.

Daily Checks

  • Check mixer blades and liners for wear
  • Inspect belt conveyor for misalignment
  • Verify weighing system accuracy (zero point)
  • Check air compressor oil level and drainage
  • Inspect hydraulic system for leaks
  • Clean mixer discharge gate

Weekly Maintenance

  • Grease all bearing points
  • Check screw conveyor for blockages
  • Inspect electrical connections and cable condition
  • Test emergency stop functionality
  • Clean dust collection system

Monthly Maintenance

  • Replace gearbox oil (first 500 hours, then every 2000 hours)
  • Check mixing blade clearance (should be 3-5mm from liner)
  • Inspect load cells and wiring
  • Calibrate weighing system
  • Check cement silo level indicators

Seasonal (Every 6 Months)

  • Full structural inspection
  • Replace worn mixing blades and liners
  • Service air compressor
  • Inspect and repaint corroded areas
  • Update control system software

Pro Tips

  • Keep spare blades and liners in stock — delivery from China can take 30-45 days
  • Train at least 2 operators — if one leaves, you’re not stuck
  • Keep a maintenance log — this helps identify patterns and predict failures
